“The skills I built in Toastmasters drive my success in Information Technology and the United States Air Force.”

Our members deserve great leaders that deliver results. One of the many reasons I’m running for First Vice President is because I believe that together we can deliver results. From corporations and nonprofits to the military, I bring experience that puts service as the top priority. Share my vision for an organization that cultivates a culture of communication, serves to evaluate its leaders with the same zeal as its speakers, and delivers technology that gives members equitable access to our products.

As a 21-year military officer, I know the value of service. I joined the United States Air Force to serve the needs of our citizens, putting their needs before my own. In the military and in Toastmasters, service is who we are. Consistent service is a hallmark of excellence. As your First Vice President, I am committed to every member receiving the same level of service whether they are in Pittsburgh or Papua New Guinea.

In the corporate world, many of the challenges I faced originated with a lack of collaboration between teams that worked apart instead of together. In my experience, bringing these groups together yielded much stronger results when working as a team. Our leadership should be encouraged to communicate challenges and success through the organization. This is how Dr. Smedley intended Toastmasters to function. I am dedicated to listening to our members and further opening channels of communication through all levels of our organization.

As our organization has evolved, we have used technology to continue enhancing how our members interact with our programs. However, technology has created complexity that debilitates the agility of our organization. I bring a solid track record with delivering technology solutions. I am committed to a simplified technology platform that delivers easier member access to the services they need. This will allow us to deliver and enhance service equity across the world.

Throughout my career, I worked in environments where results are required. I will do whatever it takes, consistent with our core values, to meet the needs of our members. Toastmasters changes lives. Together, let’s continue the movement Dr. Smedley began 100 years ago.

GLobally Aware

During my career, I’ve been privileged to work with teams around the world. In addition, I had the opportunity to travel to visit them where they work and play. Through these experiences, I learned first hand that we are all different. We have different ways of communicating. That leads to different ways of working and different ways of providing feedback. However, the most important thing I learned is that we are more the same than we are different. I was treated like family wherever I traveled. This happens when you become one with the people you are visiting. By sampling their cultures, understanding the local challenges, and working within the local framework, you cease to be a tourist or outsider. You share solutions. You become Stronger, Together.
